Based on the nation’s history of implementing five year plans, Korean President Lee Myung-bak announced the “five-year green growth plan,” in the middle of 2009.
Under the plan, Korea aims to spend KRW 107 trillion ($87 billion) on a variety of projects to reduce emissions and develop next-generation clean technologies.
With a focus on reducing the country’s heavy dependence on oil and gas imports, whilst also developing solar cell, hydrogen fuel cell, wind energy, and LED technologies.
