GS Retail’s check-out line – 10 bidders or less

GS Retail attracts interest from 10 companies (Korean)

GS Retail’s supermarket chain and department store chain have attracted interest from ten companies, reported the Korean version of the Maeil Business, last Sunday (Dec.20).

The article, citing an unnamed brokerage source, stated -

  • South Korean department store operators- Lotte Shopping, Hyundai Department Store and Shinsegae, along with Mega Mart, US firm Costco,  Homeplus (the South Korean arm of Tesco), and 4-5  unspecified foreign PEFs are evaluating the acquisition.

According to an earlier report, the GS businesses were valued at between KRW 1tr and 1.6tr (USD 0.9bn and 1.3bn). For more information see the earlier post here.
